Anthony Ritchie: Violin Concerto (world première)

In May of 2014, the Southern Sinfonia hosted former Michael Hill Violin Competition winner, Bella Hristova to première Anthony Ritchie's Violin Concerto, conducted by Tecwyn Evans.

Anthony Ritchie's trademark ability to shape lyrical and thrilling music with excellent craftsmanship pervades this concerto.  Ritchie consciously tailored his music to display Hristova's playing, and her beauty of tone and passionate delivery are highlighted throughout the work.  There are also hints of the soul of Hungary  that have influenced both composer and artist….Ritchie who studied at the Liszt Academy in Budapest, and Bella who was born there in 1985.
