Welcome to the Nine to Noon Short Story Competition page for 2023.
We had another wonderful response from listeners and judges Harry Ricketts and Tina Makereti, and picked their five best, which have been adapted for radio.
“It’s a real privilege”, says Tina. “People were writing about things that affected them deeply. I was excited to see new writing. A number of the entries had common strands….the death of a parent, relationship problems, and memories of childhood came through”
Harry said: “We saw a real range of approaches to short stories. Some more dialogue driven, some had a narrator figure, some were a glimpse into life, and some had a twist in the tail”.
