1pm Composing music: but is it research?

Dunedin composer Associate Prof Anthony Ritchie has been promoted to the rank of Professor at the University of Otago; one of very few composers to have that title in New Zealand. Tonight he gives his first Professorial lecture 'Composing music: but is it research?'. Eva Radich discovers more.

2pm

We continue celebrating great violinists, with Christian Tetzlaff. The German violinist has a neurological condition that makes playing the violin extremely painful. Upbeat host David Morriss has seen Tetzlaff twice and can testify how incredible he is. We hear him perform Joachim’s Violin Concerto no 2.
