The Northern Marianas is to replace almost 800 wooden power poles which had been damaged by Super Typhoon Soudelor.

It's one of the final phases of rehabilitation which the Commonwealth has undertaken after the 2015 disaster.

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp says it is replacing 787 damaged wooden power poles with concrete ones.

The utilities company is asking for the community's understanding in the resulting intermittent power outages in the next few months.

It is working to an August deadline set by the Federal Emergency Management Agency to replace the power poles.
