The Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme, or SPREP, said its aim is to help countries improve their planning and prioritise action to reduce their vulnerability.

It said water resources, food security, natural ecosystems and livelihoods are already being affected by climate change.

SPREP said when climate change challenges are immense and resources are limited, prioritising the range of adaptation options is the key to better planning.

It said various Pacific countries have asked for help to up-skill their approach.

The regional workshop runs from 28 to 31 May in Nadi, Fiji.
