4:24 pm on 16 July 2018

The trial in Vanuatu of an alleged rapist and murderer from Tanna has been adjourned for the fifth time amid concerns for the safety of the accused.

The victim was a six year old girl.

The Daily Post newspaper reported the victim's family saying the suspect would never get away with what he had done.

The newspaper said that four security officers could not guarantee the safety of the accused due to the number of the victim's family members in court.

Magistrate Jessica Palo adjourned the hearing.
