Polynesia's Anglican primate farewelled

The most senior Anglican archbishop for Polynesia has been farewelled at a ceremony in Suva.

The Most Reverend Winston Halapua was farewelled at the Holy Trinity Cathedral yesterday after eight years of service.

The Most Reverend Don Tamihere from New Zealand will be taking on duties for the Diocese of Polynesia until a new primate is installed.

Reverend Tamihere is the leader of the Maori Anglican church.

The Fiji Times reported Archbishop Halapua was moving to the United Kingdom where he would be based at the Cambridge Theological Federation.
