A cyberattack hit the only hospital in the Northern Mariana Islands last week.

The Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation (CHCC) said these attacks have targeted hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare facilities, compromising patient information.

"We prioritize safeguarding the privacy of our patients and CHCC is currently evaluating the threat and working with authorities, ensuring we are in compliance with federal laws," CHCC said in a statement.

"There are no disruptions to clinical and emergency services.

"Critical patient care will continue without interruption, and our healthcare professionals are committed to providing the best possible care under these challenging circumstances."

CHCC said it is employing all security measures to prevent any further threats and protect all data, and a thorough investigation remains in place to confirm the nature of the threat.

It said security measures are being implemented in collaboration with CNMI Homeland Security and other federal agencies.

"If you've received any communications regarding suspicious activities of a similar nature, it's imperative that you refrain from further engagement as we continue to work with authorities," CHCC said.

"CHCC remains steadfast in its commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services and ensuring the security of patient data."
