A Palau author has received a grant to publish a colourful children's book written in Palauan, as part of a project to promote literacy and language there.
Author Joleen Ngoriakl says there are few children's books written in her indigenous language and now there will be an initial run of 1,000 copies.
Ms Ngoriakl says as well as distributing the book to local schools for free, she told Sara Vui-Talitu she wants to ensure others in the community are given the opportunity to see what it takes to get published.
