Simon Morris looks at three contrasting stories – from a comic-book time traveller and a grumpy retired sailor finding love late in life to an author shocked to discover what her husband actually thinks of her book.

 

 

The Flash sees a super-hero go back in time to save his mother, and runs into the usual time-travel, alternate realities problem.   Starring Ezra Miller (We need to talk about Kevin) and both Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck as two conflicting Batmen.

 

 

My sailor my love sees James Cosmo (Game of Thrones) as an unlikely romantic lead in an Irish tear-jerker about love finding two people late in life.

 

 

 

And You hurt my feelings asks what do people want to hear:  the truth or a comforting white lie?   Written and directed by Nicole Holofcener (Enough Said, The last duel), it stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Veep) and Tobias Menzies (The Crown).
