From Morning Report, 8:36 am on 8 May 2018

A seasonal labour shortage has been declared in the Bay of Plenty for the first time in more than a decade. The region needs an extra 1200 workers to pick and pack a bumper kiwifruit crop over the next month. The company Apata, will harvest and store about 10 percent of the Bay's kiwifruit this year. Its managing director Stuart Weston says it's not just about paying the pickers more.
