BNZ bans 93yo deaf dementia sufferer after argument

A decision by the Bank of New Zealand to ban a 93-year-old customer who is legally deaf and suffers from dementia, is being described as elder abuse. The action was taken two weeks ago when Cheng Kung got into an argument with the manager at Christchurch's Upper Riccarton branch who says Mr Kung hit him with an umbrella. Age Concern is helping Mr Kung and doesn't want to comment specifically on his case. But its chief executive, Simon Templeton told Conan Young he agreed that in general banks and other businesses needed to do better at helping those with dementia.
