Central Auckland iwi Ngati Whatua Orakei has appeared before the Supreme Court to stop the Crown from giving land believed to be within its tribal boundaries to other iwi as part of a collective Treaty settlement.
The issue is reaching boiling point, after a hikoi calling for the Crown to recognise tikanga in the treaty process spilled over into threats of war on Parliament's forecourt on Tuesday.
Treaty Negotiations Minister Andrew Little faced the passionate protests, and joins Guyon Espiner to discuss the settlement process.
