Stuart Nash backs police discretion in chases

From Morning Report, 7:36 am on 21 May 2018

Police Minister Stuart Nash has backed police and sent another strong message that drivers must stop, following another death from a police pursuit. A 15-year-old riding in the boot of a stolen car died on Saturday during a chase with police, making him the sixth person to die this year while fleeing in a vehicle. The incident comes as the Independent Police Conduct Authority review when and why police should chase fleeing drivers. We asked to speak to someone from the police about this issue but they declined. Mr Nash tells Guyon Espiner he's not going to start calling off police chases but he's open to what the review might recommend.
