Denise Lee urges law change for council information access

From Morning Report, 8:54 am on 23 May 2018

National MP and former Auckland councillor Denise Lee wants a law change to give councillors better access to council information. Auckland councillors Cathy Casey and Efeso Collins have complained to the Ombudsman after they were told if they wanted to see an unedited version of a report on the downturn stadium they'd have to go to the mayor's office and read it there. Denise Lee is trying to get a private members bill debated in Parliament that would make life easier for councillors. She told our Auckland correspondent Todd Niall her bill would make a difference in the current standoff.
