Gastro outbreaks may have gone undetected

From Morning Report, 7:29 am on 5 June 2018

Researchers say there may have been previous gastro outbreaks in Hawke's Bay that were never picked up by health authorities. The possibility is being investigated as part of a two-year study into the 2016 Havelock North water crisis, in which 5,000 people fell ill. They're also analysing social media posts from around the time of the outbreak, to see if it could have been detected sooner.
