90-day-trials 'extremely important' in hiring decisions - EMA

A survey of companies show most don't want the Government to ditch the 90-day trial period for new employees. A parliamentary select committee is considering a bill to outlaw the trial period, except for companies with fewer than twenty staff. The Employers and Manufacturers Association has polled its members and three quarters said three month trials were extremely important when deciding whether to hire a new employee. Paul Jarvie is the association's Employment Relations & Safety Manager. He talks to Guyon Espiner.
