Wellington bus drivers face 14hr shifts - union

From Morning Report, 8:41 am on 20 July 2018

The roll out of new buses and bus routes in Wellington is continuing to be controversial with new drivers struggling to run to timetable. And it seems the fallout is continuing. The bus driver's union has released documents showing how Tranzit, worked with the Ministry of Social Development (MSD) to recruit unemployed people as drivers. The Ministry now says it acted inappropriately and the Tramways Union which represents bus drivers says experienced workers have missed out on jobs. Tramways Wellington secretary Kevin O'Sullivan tells Guyon Espiner about issues with terms and conditions for drivers, including 14-hour shifts.
