The band – fronted by Jon Toogood – will also be releasing their classic 1999 LP The General Electric on vinyl for the first time. The General Electric includes some of Shihad’s biggest hits, such as ‘My Mind’s Sedate’, ‘The General Electric’ and ‘Pacifier’.

Shihad 30th anniversary tour dates:
  • Christchurch: Friday, October 19, The Foundry
  • Wellington: Saturday, October 20, Shed 6
  • New Plymouth: Sunday, October 21, The Mayfair
  • Hamilton: Thursday, October 25, Claudelands Arena
  • Auckland: Friday, October 26, Town Hall
  • Mt Maunganui: Saturday, October 27, Brewers Indoor Arena, with Kora

Tickets go on sale 9am, Thursday 30th August at shihad.com.

Shihad formed in 1988 when Jon Toogood and drummer Tom Larkin were students at Wellington High. The pair found guitarist Phil Knight through a music shop notice board in 1989. Current bassist Karl Kippenberger joined the band in 1993 after being a fan for a number of years.

Shihad have released nine studio albums – five of which went to #1 in the NZ Charts; they survived an unfortunate name change – to Pacifier – driven by the negative connotations of the word ‘Jihad’ post 9/11; and have toured with musical heroes including Motorhead, Metallica, Faith No More and AC/DC.

In 2010 they were inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall Of Fame, and are one of New Zealand’s most loved and respected bands ever.
