Tuesday 22 May
Lloyd Mandeno’s electric hot water cylinder was found in 2016 during renovations at Manse house. The cylinder probably dates around 1910-1915. Likely to be one of the first in NZ and the world.

Mandeno opened an electrical showroom in June 1915 on Devonport road, Tauranga, displaying electric lights, coffee percolator, electric stoves and the electric hot water system. Tauranga became the leading town in NZ for electrical appliances in homes.
The Omanawa hydro power station was completed on the 28th August 1915 designed by Mandeno.
