The resignation of the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has taken the country by surprise and has sparked a leadership battle within the Labour Party. Ardern led the country through some of the most tumultuous times, including the global pandemic, the Christchurch mosque shooting and the Whakaari disaster. But what drives her? Who is the woman behind the headlines? Did she live up to her promise and what will her legacy be? Anna speaks to journalist Madeleine Chapman - the author of a biography of the Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern: A New Kind of Leader 

09.30 Avatar exceeding all expectations

The much-anticipated Avatar sequel is getting rave reviews around the globe and has been breaking box office records in January - impressive for January which is usually a slow time of the year. All the live action filming for Avatar was done in Auckland and Wellington, and with the production based in the capital, it has employed thousands of people directly, and indirectly around the country. Producer Jon Landau has just arrived back in New Zealand, and he joined Anna to talk about whether the movie has exceeded all expectations.

09.40 Disabled golfer back in the swing

After a spinal infection and medical misadventure left her confined to a wheelchair, Cathie Braun thought she'd never get back to her beloved golf. But now the Kuratau local has her swing back thanks to a recently imported all-terrain wheelchair designed specifically for disabled golfers. It's the first of its kind in New Zealand - and with the push of a button, it raises Cathie to a standing position so she can hit the ball. Cathie tells Anna about the difference it's made to her life.

10.10 50 years of Spirit of Adventure

With its spectacular three masted tall ship, the Spirit of New Zealand , the trust has changed hundreds of young lives with its youth development programme. This year the Spirit of Adventure Trust is celebrating 50 years. Trust head Bruce Pilbrow and Huia Kaimanawa Wesling MacGregor who sailed as a student and then crewmember, joins Anna to talk about the impact its had on so many people.

10.35 The Book of Feeling Blue

How do you know if you're just feeling a bit sad or if you are depressed? What level of sadness is 'normal'? How do you work out what's going on when you feel down? What kinds of treatment are available?  These are just some of the questions answered by author and leading psychologist Gwendoline Smith in her new book The Book of Feeling Blue. It's an illustrated guide to living with depression.

10.45 Museum stop - Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom - Foxton 

Our last Summer Times museum stop is the Horowhenua town of Foxton where a very unique centre links Māori, Dutch and pioneering history together. Incoroporating the landmark Dutch windmill, Te Awahou Nieuwe Stroom forms part of an award-winning visitor and community centre. Anna is joined by representatives Te Kenehi Teira and Arjan van der Boon.

11.08 On the road with surfing champ Paige Hareb

Kiwi surfing champ Paige Hareb takes us on our final SummerTimes roadtrip. Proudly Taranaki born and bred, Paige was the first kiwi female surfer to make the World Surf League Championship Tour when she joined in 2009. She has continued to compete at the top level both internationally and nationally. This month she rode the waves all the way to top spot on the New Zealand Surf Journal poll - being named the country's best surf athlete - in another female first. Her board is now set on winning an Olympic medal.

11.40 Elton's tour manager says NZ Tour definitely his last

DC Parmet has been Sir Elton John's tour manager since 1997. Sir Elton will soon stage a concert in Christchurch and then two in Auckland. DC Parmet says it'll be the last time the singer performs in New Zealand.
