9:10 Summer so far in Gisborne

Gisborne mayor Rehette Stoltz is joining the programme to discuss how summer has gone in her district. The region suffered a tumultuous year in 2023 with Cyclone Gabrielle amid further patches of extreme weather. But Gisborne has enjoyed calm weather so far as well as events like Rhythm and Vines returning for its 21st iteration.

10:00 Good Habits return to New Zealand

This time four years ago, Good Habits, a UK folk-duo were touring Aotearoa. After three months on the road, cellist Bonnie Schwarz and accordion player Pete Shaw, were due to fly home at the end of March ... we all know what happened next. Stuck, with the borders closed, they instead spent lockdown in Paekakariki, a coastal settlement north of Wellington, using the isolation to create their first full album, 'Going for Broke'. In the lead-up to their third album release, the pair are again on tour, and are playing at the Music Museum on Waiheke tonight.

1964 Journal

1964 was an auspicious year in the south of the south - the year Mount Aspiring National Park was founded. More recently, the year is associated with the mountain culture journal printed in Aspiring's shadow. 1964: mountain culture / aotearoa is a deep dive into remote places; its essays, poems, photography, and articles celebrating the awe-inspiring and challenging landscapes of the Southern Lakes District, and the and the adventurers and artists to seek them out. Despite its relative infancy, 1964 is already gaining taonga status, with The Guardian calling it 'an example of how print might be reinvented'. Co-founder and editor Laura Williamson speaks to Anna.

The book features stunning images from award winning photographer Kim Westerskov, who's also one of Terry's lifelong friends. The poetry spans years of Terrys life spent at and around the beach and encourages readers to take up the mantle of becoming custodians of our waters.

12:00 Urban Jumble Quiz

Every day we're giving you three words. Within each word are letters which spell out a New Zealand town or city. Each letter can only be used once. While some words may have more than one answer, the correct answer must be the town or city we're thinking of. So have a pen and paper and a map at hand and have a go.
