A pedestrain has died at the scene after being hit by a train in Upper Hutt this morning.

It is understood the pedestrian was hit by the train while using a crossing.
Emergency services were called to Stream Grove in Heretaunga about 9.21am.
Metlink said some services on the Hutt Valley Line have been cancelled or replaced by buses due to the incident, but services should return to normal by 2.30pm.
