Emergency services were called to the Grey Lynn address shortly after 7pm.

Detective Sergeant Martin Friend said one man is in a critical condition with stab wounds in Auckland Hospital and another person is in a less serious condition with wounds to their stomach and head.

He said after two men, one with a knife, went in to the dairy there was an altercation behind the counter.

The offenders then ran off towards Tuarangi Road.

The Police and ambulance officers were called to the dairy on Great North Road, just south of Williamson Avenue, about 7.15pm.

Detectives have begun a scene examination.
