A man, 52, is recovering after being shot in his lower leg on Kelvin Street on 30 June.

A warrant was issued for Anthony Miles Tamaiti Watkins a week ago but lead detective Chris Lucy said they were no closer to catching Mr Watkins, who is believed to be travelling north.

Mr Lucy said six staff based in Invercargill were working full-time on the search.

He asked anyone who had seen Mr Watkins to come forward.

Police have said Mr Watkins is 24, about 167cm tall and has connections to Invercargill, Dunedin and the Bay of Plenty.
