Police release name of man who died in Manukau homicide

Police have named 21-year-old Joseph Tauati as the man who died in Middlemore Hospital on New Year's Day, following an altercation in the Manukau Velodrome carpark.

Counties Manukau Police say they are making progress as the homicide investigation into Tauati's death continues.

A Police spokepserson said a number of individuals had been spoken to by the investigation team and Police would continue to identify and speak with people in connection to the incident.

Police said Tauati's family had requested privacy while they were grieving and did not wish to be contacted by media.
