Kiwi rocker James Reid has admitted he refused to give police a blood sample after being stopped for drink-driving.
The Feelers frontman was seen by police driving at estimated speeds of 90-100km/h in a 50km/h zone in the Christchurch suburb of Papanui early on Boxing Day last year.
The officer turned on the patrol car's flashing lights and sirens, however, Reid continued driving home.
"He came to a stop shortly after ... directly outside his home address," a summary of facts said.
"The defendant spoke to police a short time later and admitted to having consumed alcohol prior to driving.
"The defendant underwent evidential breath procedures to which he provided two insufficient breath volume samples."
As a result, the officer asked for a blood sample, which Reid refused.
The 49-year-old later told police he had drunk two shots of tequila.
Reid said he did not stop for the officer as he did not think police were stopping him.
The musician was also convicted of refusing to give a blood sample in 2017.
His lawyer Rupert Ward told the court Reid acknowledged he had a serious alcohol problem and he intended to get help.
"He's shown, with the support of his family, a determined view to turn it around," Ward said.
"He'll be entering a detox clinic in due course."
Reid was remanded on bail on the condition he did not consume alcohol and would be sentenced in May.
