Most dawn services should be dry in the three big cities, but Anzac Day is expected to be wet and windy.
It was worth checking the forecast, as well as RNZ's list of Anzac Day commemorations.
MetsService said clear skies would dominate on Tuesday and Wednesday but would give way to a strengthening northwesterly flow bringing clouds and showers.

"The weather looks dry for dawn services in Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland on Anzac Day, but strengthening northwesterlies across the middle of the country mean it will be a windy one for the capital," meteorologist Ngaire Wotherspoon said.
"It'll be worth taking a raincoat for the early morning services on the West Coast."
MetService meteorologist Dan Corrigan said it would also be worth bringing a raincoat to morning services in Southland or Queenstown Lakes "even though it might start off dry".
Corrigan said: "Friday will see periods of wet weather across the country and a change to cooler southwesterly winds. Any lingering showers are expected to clear up for the weekend, but that chillier air remains, so we're looking at a prolonged run of single digit overnight temperatures into next week and frosts in the South Island.
"Clear skies are what allow for these cooler nights, but they also let temperatures bounce back into the mid-to-high tens during the sunny afternoons this weekend for a fine end to the school holidays."
A heavy rain warning was in place for the ranges of the Westland District from 4am until 2pm with further rain expected into Friday.
The Canterbury High Country had a Strong Wind Warning from 2am Thursday through until 6pm.
There was also a Heavy Rain Watch in place for Fiordland from Wednesday night through to Friday morning, and a Strong Wind Watch for southern Fiordland, Southand, Stewart Island, Southern Lakes, Clutha, Central Otago and Dunedin from Wednesday evening until 8am Anzac Day.
