Rowing New Zealand haven't made any decisions about the process to decide who will represent them in the men's single sculls beyond this year's World Championships.

Robbie Manson claimed the berth for September's World Champs by powering to a big win as two-time Olympic champion Drysdale came home fourth at the third World Cup event in Switzerland at the weekend.

Asked if the two athletes could be involved in another winner takes all duel for the seat at next year's World Champs or the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, High Performance director Alan Cotter says that was yet to be determined.

"There is still water to go under the bridge, we've still got to sit down with the athletes," says Cotter.

"in the next two or three months we'll sit down with athletes and coaches but we will wait for the dust to settle then we'll go through a process again - who knows what's going to happen regarding selection."

Rowing New Zealand could well continue with the controversial row-off which decided the single sculls berth for this year's World Championships.

Manson had said that he hoped the mid-season trial wouldn't continue however Cotter states Rowing New Zealand and both rowers are satisfied with the process.

Manson and Drysdale knew that the result of the World Cup race, which Manson won yesterday, was critical in determining who would get a world championship seat and for future selections beyond the September event.

"Robbie and Mahe bought into it and knew the result here would count for selection for the world champs so Mahe wasn't good enough yesterday but certainly his target is 2020." says Cotter

"Mahe, you've got to respect what he has done and where he has come from this time last year to where he is now - it's a huge credit to him."

"he pulled back some seconds on Robbie but Robbie was just too good for him."
