New Zealand cyclist George Bennett is in doubt for the rest of the Tour of Switzerland after being involved in a crash on stage two.

Bennett finished at the back of the peleton, 15 minutes from the stage winner.

He suffered multiple abrasions on his right hip, hand and back and a contusion on the left quadriceps.

His UAE Team Emirates say he'll be monitored overnight by the team doctor.

The crash happened with 31km left on the stage on a flat, straight segment of road and split the bunch in half with numerous riders left sitting on the side of the road.

Bennett's team-mate and fellow New Zealander Finn Fisher-Black is 16th overall after two of the eight stages.

Swiss rider Stefan Kung leads overall.
