Now the MetService long range forecast for all New Zealand to midnight Tuesday
The Situation
A low to the east of the South Island is passing close to the east of Wairarapa overnight, and is forecast to deepen and be centred close to the east of East Cape at midnight Saturday. A narrow ridge is spreading over the South Island, and persists through Saturday.
Looking at the weather to midnight tomorrow
Northland to Taranaki, including Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Plenty and the central high country
Occasional showers, clearing this afternoon or evening then fine.
Gisborne, Hawke's Bay and Wairarapa
Scattered showers turning to rain in Gisborne and Hawke's Bay tomorrow evening, and clearing elsewhere. Isolated thunderstorms and hail possible north of Napier. Southerlies rising to gales about Gisborne coast later tomorrow.
Whanganui, Manawatu, Horowhenua Kapiti Coast and Wellington
Mainly fine. Isolated showers for a time tomorrow.
Nelson, Buller and Westland
Fine weather.
Marlborough and Canterbury
Mainly fine today, but a few showers about Banks Peninsula, clearing this afternoon. Cloudy tomorrow, with patchy drizzle morning and night.
Otago, Southland and Fiordland
Cloudy with patchy drizzle developing this evening, then retreating to the coast tomorrow.
Chatham Islands
Partly cloudy with the odd shower. Rain developing later tomorrow.

Sunday
North Island: Rain about Gisborne and Hawke's Bay, clearing. Mainly fine elsewhere. South Island: Isolated showers in the far south and the east coast, otherwise mainly fine.
Monday
North Island: Fine. South Island: Mainly fine, chance of a morning or afternoon shower. Rain developing about Fiordland late.
Tuesday
North Island: Mainly fine, but a few showers in the north and northeast. South Island: Rain for Fiordland, and a few showers in the north and west. Mainly fine elsewhere.
And at the Chathams
Showers on Sunday, becoming isolated on Monday as southeasterlies turn light southwest. Mainly fine on Tuesday, with light winds.
