A proposed law to allow medicinal use of marijuana in the Northern Marianas may be decided by a referendum.

The bill, proposed by Senator Sixto Igisomar, was discussed during a two-day hearing on the issue.

Senator Teresita Santos says the well-attended hearing at the Mayor's Office on Rota drew both positive and negative reactions from several community members.

Senator Santos chairs the Senate Committee on Health and Welfare, which directly handles concerns regarding Senate Bill 19-06.
