Mikaele Leawere was responding to a FijiTimes article highlighting figures from a Ministry of Education sponsored booklet.

He says it shows 89 primary school girls were among the 121 student pregnancies listed.

Mr Leawere said the National Substance Abuse Advisory Council's supplementary booklet also showed 10 percent of school children have been subjected to violence.

He said the Ministry of Education had lost its way and is suffering policy paralysis.

Mr Leawere said the ministry must act to curb these figures as a generation of Fijians are at risk.
