Six detained in Fiji in connection with Grace Road enslavement case

Reports from Fiji say six South Korean nationals connected to a controversial church are in police custody in Fiji and likely to be deported.

Shin Ok-ju, the founder of Grace Road Church, was jailed in South Korea in 2019 for enslaving some 400 followers in Fiji.

The Fiji Sun reported one of those detained is the son of the founder of the Grace Road Church who has been arrested in Seoul over enslaving followers.

The High Court in Lautoka has granted an interim injunction against the removal of three of the detained.

The newspaper reported more than 20 Korean police officers are in Fiji as investigations continue into the case.
