Fiji is due to hold a general election this year although a date is yet to be announced.

Six of Fiji's eight political parties held a joint press conference yesterday to reiterate their concerns that electoral authorities had not fixed election processes.

The parties said they had no confidence in election authorities.

The National Federation Party's Seni Nabou said continued discussions with the Electoral Commission had resulted in no movement or "intentional ignorance" of their concerns.

"We remain focused and undeterred despite all the limitations and the lack of movement on the technical issues that we want fixed before the elections," she said.

"Time is not on our side and we want the people to remain actively engaged in making sure that their political rights are respected."
