This follows closures after the devastation brought by Super Typhoon Yutu nearly three weeks ago.

The chair, Marylou Adam, has asked the interim Education commissioner, Glenn Muna, to reopen campuses that were not damaged by Yutu as soon as possible.

She said she understands that the public school system cannot reopen all 20 public schools but that some campuses could be up and running in as little as a week or at the most two weeks.

The board has also decided to either relocate or consolidate a number of schools that are too damaged for immediate repair.

The consolidation would lead to double four-hour sessions each morning and afternoon.
