PNG reviewing citizenship of all MPs

Papua New Guinea's attorney general has initiated a review of the citizenship status of all the country's 111 MPs.

It follows opposition allegations that the Prime Minister, Peter O'Neill, is a dual national who also holds an Australian passport.

The National newspaper reported that would make him ineligible for office under PNG law.

Mr O'Neill's office has denied the allegations, calling them fake news.

At a news conference yesterday the attorney general, Alfred Manase, said the immigration department was reviewing the status of all of the country's MPs.
