1:15 Kiwis ageing gracefully

It's long been assumed that the older we get, the more ailments we suffer, the more sick or less healthy we are.

New research by Massey University contradicts that. In fact Kiwis stay healthier for longer, enjoying good wellbeing as they age.

Not just physically, but mentally and socially as well. There is a catch though. The more well off you are, the better you will age - and those without a house are particularly stressed.

So with more on what this means, for now and in the future, we're joined by one of the researchers, Professor Christine Stephens.

It's no secret New Zealand is facing a shortage of skilled trades workers. It's estimated up to 60,000 more workers may be needed over the next five years.

While that's an issue for the Government, it's also something small businesses have to worry about.

A Wellington plumbing company decided they needed to get creative and have created an ad campaign they're hoping will entice new staff.

Jared Wood, Manager of New Vision Enterprises, tells us what the issues are for the industry.

1:35 Fatigue: the illness affecting thousands of children

It's an illness that's often described as 'hidden'. Thousands of kids around the world, and here in New Zealand, too unwell to go to school or even get up off the bed.

It's complex and misunderstood, there's even debate over what to call it. Some know it as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, others M.E.

Freelancer Felicity Monk wrote a report about the illness for The Wireless and joins us to tell us about the stories she heard.
