"Politically minded' singer-songwriter Helen Corry has just released her debut EP Later For The Real Show.

In May this year, the music video for one the EP's tracks La Femme shook up some controversy and led to Facebook deleting Helen's profile.

The song and video are a response to the #MeToo movement, she tells Jesse Mulligan.

"[The video] has a very talented female dancer covered in body paint… and she was dancing like a liberated woman. I posted it on to my Facebook page and then my Facebook page was deleted. I had to fight back on that."

Eventually, her Facebook page was restored: "Someone said 'you're right, this isn't inappropriate, this is art."

Pop music doesn't have to be trivial, she says

"If I can write something that makes people think a bit deeper then I'll definitely do it.

"I'm quite tired, as a female, of being told that my body is unacceptable. And I'm not sure if that's a message I want my daughters to grow up being told."
