Small rest homes can't turn a profit on government subsidy

Many small rest home operators in cities and towns are going out of business or being gobbled up by larger players because they can't turn a profit. That's one of the findings of a Westpac Bank economic report on the state of the healthcare sector, which has found there will be a significant shortfall in rest home beds unless drastic action is taken.
