In 2009 Nicola and Geoff Wright started making wine out of a shipping container set on the edge of their hand-planted, organic vineyard in Ormond Valley just west of Gisborne.

They had one small boy. Now, nearly a decade later they have three vine yards, a winery, cafe and five young boys.

Nicola still works as a criminal lawyer while Geoff is full time in the wine business. Wrights Wines have been selling their chardonnay in China for the past two years, and their Natural Wine Co varieties are in many supermarkets.  It's sold alongside conventional wine to show consumers organic wine can be affordable.
