Family pinning hope on DHB Commissioner on changing DHB's plan

The family of a man who took his own life while under the care of the Waikato District Health Board hopes the new Commissioner of the board will stop the DHB reopening an inquest into the death. 21-year-old Nicky Stevens was found dead in the Waikato River three days after he walked out of Waikato Hospital's mental health unit in 2015. Today his family will meet with the DHB's new Commissioner, Karen Poutasi, having met with the Prime Minister yesterday. His mother, Jane Stevens says the family was devastated when it heard the DHB was questioning the Coroner's findings. She's hoping the Commissioner will see sense and let the family finally have some closure.
