Report into cruise ship death highlights need for improved standards

A report into the death of a cruise ship worker in Dunedin in 2017 has highlighted the need for improved standards for the handling and storage of high-pressure cylinders on board the ships. Allan Navales, a 32-year-old Filipino father, died when a nitrogen cylinder exploded on board Emerald Princess while it was docked in Port Chalmers, near Dunedin.
