10:18 Stopping land wars key to supermarket competition

Urgent efforts are underway to get supermarket shoppers a better deal. The legislation would stop supermarkets engaging in anti-competitive land wars that block compeititors from accessing land for new stores.  

How does it work and will this really enhance and encourage competition ? Whats more, will that competition drive down the price of that 21 dollar block of cheese or will it simply give us a greater variety oif cheese to choose from?

10:25 Dunedin Hospital  built with "Hammeroid" 

The giant boring machine that will build twin tunnels for the $4.4 billion City Rail Link in Auckland  bears the name of the late Dame Whina Cooper - the respected kuia and Māori rights champion who worked tirelessly to improve the lives of her people.

The giant boring machine that drilled motoway tunnels on Auckland's Waterview Connection project was named Alice and it had a partner, a yellow launching gantry called Dennis.

So it doesnt seem odd at all that the good people of Dunedin have been on the hunt for a suitable name for the massive pile driver thats building the city's new hosptital. 

A competition was launched and a winner has been named

Our fascination with other life forms has led the The Dowse Art Museum in Lower Hutt to stage an exhibition called "The Truth Is Out There" looking at contemporary artists' fascination with UFOs, alien abductions and other unexplained phenomena, during a time when belief in extra-terrestrial life is more accepted in the mainstream than ever before.
