M bovis eradication a 'unanimous decision' with industry - MPI

From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 29 May 2018

The Ministry for Primary Industries is facing a mammoth challenge. Can it eradicate Mycoplasma bovis when other countries have failed? Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said on Monday there was "one shot" to get rid of the disease, and that shot has to be taken now. But locals in the small rural community of Winton - which has been ground zero for the outbreak - are not convinced by the government's approach. However, Ministry of Primary Industries director of readiness and response Geoff Gwyn says the decision to eradicate was unaminous across all industry major players, not just bureaucrats in Wellington.
