'Steady decline' in positive trucking industry meth tests

A workplace drug testing company says positive results for methamphetamine in the trucking industry have steadily declined. Earlier this week, a Northland woman Erana Paraone campaigning against methamphetamine said she believed some long-haul truck drivers were using meth to stay awake. The Drug Detection Agency administers about 200,000 tests a year, and provides advice to employers around the country. Its chief executive Kirk Hardy says truck drivers may have used substances to stay awake in the past. He told RNZ reporter Sophia Duckor-Jones the landscape has changed considerably.
