First Union urges govt pressure on Israel after boss arrested

From Morning Report, 7:40 am on 31 July 2018

The Unite Union says its leader Mike Treen has been arrested by the Israeli military as he was trying to take aid to Gaza.

They say Mr Treen was attacked and detained by the Israeli military as he was part of a flotilla trying to break the 11-year old Israeli blockade of the Palestinean territory.

First Union divisional secretary Tali Williams told our producer Jane Dunbar the New Zealand Government must demand the release of Mr Treen.
