MPI responds over destruction of tree cuttings
As we have been reporting this morning thousands of fruits trees could go up in flames as the Ministry for Primary Industries wrestles with a biosecurity threat. MPI has ordered the containment or destruction of any plants that passed through a US company that sells cuttings for apple, cherry and other summer fruit trees to New Zealand. Last hour we spoke to grower Andy McGrath who told us the US facility is the pre-eminent plant shipping business in the world.
