Rescuers hope to fly climber off Mt Aspiring on Friday

From Morning Report, 7:09 am on 3 August 2018

Rescuers are hoping to fly a 29-year-old Australian soldier off Mount Aspiring on Friday. Grave fears were being held for the climber before he was found at five o'clock yesterday, just north of the plateau at Quarterdeck Pass, standing up and waving. An alpine cliff rescue team and paramedic have been with him overnight. Geoff Lunt is a senior search and rescue officer at the Rescue Coordination Centre. He talks to Alex Perrottet.
