From Morning Report, 7:54 am on 14 August 2018

A forgotten painting by renowned New Zealand artist, Charles F Goldie, will go on sale at an auction in Auckland. The portrait of Kapi Kapi, an Arawa Chieftainess, was painted in 1918 and was only discovered when the owner decided to sell it. Kapi Kapi was a member of the Tuhourangi iwi. She survived the 1886 eruption of Mt Tarawera. Three Goldie paintings will feature in the auction in Parnell. The one of Kapi Kapi is expected to go for more than $250,000. Joining Guyon Espiner is University of Auckland senior lecturer in Art History and Cultural Heritage, Dr Ngarino Ellis.
